Forever Protected
Forever Protected was my second artwork related to animals.
I had drawn animals before this and the horse as a practice,
but this one—along with the horse—was my first time creating a professional piece.
Like Silent Majesty, I used charcoal powder and conte powder along with many tools to bring out the realism, depth, and softness in this piece.
Completion Time: 73 Hours
Year: 2025
ARTWORK DETAILS
• Title: Forever Protected
• Size: 70 × 50 cm (Final drawing on Fabriano paper)
• Medium: Charcoal powder, Conte powder, Conte pencil, brushes, erasers
• Paper: Fabriano 70 × 50 cm
• Completion: My second professional animal artwork
MY PROCESS – STEP BY STEP
1. Grid Drawing
I first grid the reference on a 60 × 40 cm surface with 10 cm squares. This helps me keep the proportions accurate and makes the drawing process much easier.
2. Transferring & Taping on Fabriano Paper
I transferred the drawing to my Fabriano paper (70 × 50 cm). Before starting, I created a 10 cm frame using tape around the edges.
3. Eyes First
As always, I colored the eyes first using conte pencils and charcoal. I used soft brushes and a brush eraser to create soft lights in the eyes.
4. Dark Lines on Skin
I colored the dark stripes first using conte pencil and then conte powder to separate and define them, making the skin look more realistic. I used stiff brush 0 for the furs and hairs.
5. Hairs, Furs & Whiskers
I used big and small mechanical erasers for white hairs and furs, and also for the white whiskers (moustaches). Blending stumps were used for the mouth area and the nose.
6. Background
I colored the background with charcoal powder, creating a cloudy effect using a combination of black and white.
7. Flowers – Roots
I drew the flowers and roots in the background using blending stumps with charcoal.
8. Flowers – Details
I used a kneaded eraser along with a brush eraser for the flowers to lift lights and create softness.
9. Background Elements
Other background elements like grass, leaves, and plants were drawn with brushes and charcoal.
10. Final Check
I always pay close attention to the details and compare everything carefully so I don’t miss anything in the reference.
11. Remove Tape Carefully
After finishing, I carefully peel the tape off slowly so the paper doesn’t tear or get damaged.
12. Fixative Spray
Finally, I spray fixative spray to protect the artwork from smudging and charcoal dust.

FINAL THOUGHTS
Forever Protected taught me even more about patience, tools, and observation.
Every detail in the fur, every soft light in the eyes, and every flower in the background took time and care. This artwork represents love, protection, and the beautiful bond between a mother and her child.
I’m very proud of this piece, and it will always be very special to me.
